Installation Process

This is a film process, where a tinted film is computer cut from a large roll to the exact shape of the window being treated, the window is then cleaned on both sides and the film is applied to the inside surface. We do not remove door panels like other companies as that increases the risk of damage to the vehicle. Installation uses no chemicals and the solution we use is a mixture of water and baby shampoo. This process does not harm or damage the vehicle interior or window operation. The process and the film have no effect on rear window defroster function, nor does the rear window defroster damage the film. On occasion some streaking results on door panels, this is almost always a result of the water solution removing armor-all or similar interior care products. Simply re-applying the beautification solution by you at the next cleaning will clear that up.

Drying time

Your new window film will take 3 to 5 days to dry, sometimes a lot longer depending on weather conditions. (Manufacturers Recommend 30 Days Drying time). Until this time your tinted windows may appear hazy or bubbly, this is normal! Do not roll your tinted windows down until dry!

Cleaning

Window film may be cleaned with normal cleaning solutions, including popular brand name cleaners like Windex, 409, Glass Plus and brand name paper towels such as Bounty, Brawny, and others. Do NOT use the brown recycled paper towels or newspaper.

Black dotted edges

Most cars have a black ceramic 'frit' edge on the rear window. Sometimes this ceramic edge is straight and flat, sometimes it will have a dotted edge. These black ceramic dots are quite thick on most cars and prevent the window film from sticking to the area between the dots. This results in a silver / white looking strip trimming the glass. Typically, this isn't very noticeable, however some cars have a wide band of dots trimming the top of the rear window. This area is so wide that the area created is more pronounced. Unfortunately, the effect is unavoidable.

Seat Belt Chips

Caution should be used when releasing seat belts. Small chips can be made in the window film due to the seat belt hitting the glass as it is released, THIS IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY.

Imperfections

Though we strive for perfection in our installations, due to the nature of the product, some degree of dust contamination and or minor imperfections are present in every window film application, also pre-existing flaws or scratches and metal deposits on the glass are often much more noticeable after the windows are tinted. The newer the vehicle the fewer the imperfections. In similar comparison, a very clean vehicle will also have less imperfections than a dirty or poorly maintained vehicle. Thoroughly clean your vehicle inside and out before your appointment to assure the highest level of cleanliness in our installation.  Small silvery looking spots or 'metal rubs' on some windows are usually found in station wagons or other utility vehicles and are caused by a metallic object (such as a baby stroller handle) rubbing against the inner surface of the glass during travel. This rubbing motion deposits metal onto the glass creating a silver or grey stain. Usually, these metal rubs aren't very noticeable and often aren't noticed until the windows become tinted.

Nighttime Defogger Distortion

At night you may notice that the light from headlights will reflect off of the defogger lines. This is caused by the film having to bend slightly around the raised defogger line, it varies from car to car, and there is nothing that can be done about it.

Legality

We provide a “Customer Service” and cannot in any way be liable for the ultimate legality of the vehicle before or after our service is performed. Laws and codes change frequently and are readily available online for your review. A good resource for these laws is the I.W.F.A (international window film association) Due to the inherent contradictions in PA State Vehicle Code 175.263.(a) and PA State Inspection Code we are not responsible for the ultimate legality or your film selections. We desire to see every customer remain within the desires of Law Enforcement and PA Codes. Each customers vehicle is used differently and the need/desire/requirement for the application of tinting varies with the combinations of other accessories which may or may not be legal. We do not tint full windshields, just the sun strip at the top to the AS1 line. Current PA Vehicle Code only states that the Driver / passenger need to be seen (visible) from the outside of the vehicle. Each vehicles appearance and subsequent drivers’ ability to be seen varies greatly with time of day, interior color, size of windows and degree of tinting. Please consider each of these factors in selecting the film for your vehicle and be prepared to live with those specific legalities. We agree with and respect the rights of Law Enforcement Agencies to see inside the vehicles and appreciate their service to the public. Customers ultimate selections do not necessarily reflect our own views or choices. Prior to Scheduling an appointment, we suggest that you contact those who inspect your vehicle or your police department for specific legalities. We cannot and will not guarantee that any vehicle will or will not be “legal” as there are no clear boundaries for that statement, please know that you are accepting the risk and by paying for this application you acknowledge the risk and there are no refunds or exchanges for legality or changing your mind. There are no exceptions to the above, and the accuracy of the PA Codes is only true to the date this data was researched, please check for updates on your own.

Windshield Tint

It is FEDERALLY Illegal to tint the windshield below the AS1 line printed at the top. Federal NHTSA Codes 3.49 and 205 prohibit the windshield from being less than 70% light transmission, which is already is 70%, application of ANY tint will fail this code.  https://www.nhtsa.gov/ All PA State Inspection Codes prohibit tinting the windshield darker than the factory 70% below the AS1 line. Failing PA State Inspection will force you to remove it, most of the electronics are under the dashboard, and the water needed to tint the front window risks exposure to that and damage, the risk exceeds what we can charge. We will be fined for applying the tint. Even light tint will affect your nighttime visibility and reduce safety for you and others in your path. A windshield is laminated; cleaning and working on the inside surface risks scratching it, the cost of replacing it is usually prohibitive and not worth what we can charge to tint it. We know it looks "cool" to do the full windshield but for many reasons we will not!
