Product
Paint Protection Film is a rugged clear Urethane plastic employing a clear-coat finish for maximum shine. This durable material has been used successfully for years by the military, various auto manufacturers, and NASCAR race teams in rock chip prone areas with incredible results. Never before has a product been invented that provides so much protection with such low visibility.
OEM Paint vs. Aftermarket Paint Application
The process of applying the films can require that the film - at any point of the installation - to be removed and re-positioned or replaced. There is an industry wide risk of aftermarket paint being peeled or lifted off of the treated body panel in this situation.
OEM - Factory painted - body panels really are not prone to this problem. If your vehicle has had body repair or paint work done to the affected areas to be treated, you are required to disclose that to the installer or sales person in advance. We also require every customer to sign a release form on this topic. Although this condition is a low risk, it is an expensive repair and we cannot be held responsible.
Installation Process
This is a film process, where a thick clear film is cut from a bulk roll by computer to the exact shape of the body panel being treated, the panel is cleaned of any wax or sealants, and the film is applied to the surface. We do not remove any body panels. Installation uses no chemicals or abrasive tools. The solution we use to position the film is a mixture of water and baby shampoo, occasionally a light mix of common rubbing alcohol and water is used to accelerate the adhesion for extreme body contours. This process does not harm or damage the vehicle finish. On occasion some streaking results on adjoining body panels, this is almost always a result of the solution removing wax or detailing solutions. Simply re-applying the beautification solution by you at the next cleaning will clear that up.
Drying time
Your new film will take about 30 days to fully cure. Until this time your PPF may appear hazy or lumpy, and it may seem to have water bubbles. Do not try to remove any of these imperfections and do not machine detail or scrutinize the films until dry!
Cleaning
Paint Protection film may be cleaned with normal cleaning and detailing solutions, including popular brand name waxes, but NOT Carnauba. Do NOT use abrasives or harsh chemicals. We recommend a plastic specific cleaner or nano ceramics.
Imperfections
Though we strive for perfection in our installations, due to the nature of the product and the environment, some degree of dust contamination and or minor imperfections are present in most film applications. Pre-existing flaws or scratches and deposits on the paint surface are often noticeable after the film is applied. The newer the vehicle the fewer the imperfections. In similar comparison, a very clean vehicle will also have less imperfections than a dirty or poorly maintained vehicle. Thoroughly clean your vehicle before your appointment to assure the highest level of cleanliness in our installation. We also prep the vehicle, but it can never be too clean.
